Ratnanagar (Chitwan), Oct 1: Some 1,211 hectares forest of Chitwan National Park (CNP) continues to be under encroachment.
CNP Chief Conservation Officer Kamal Jung Kunwar stated the magnitude of invasion is growing that has led to growing clean-from forestry, undesirable disturbance to wildlife and intensifying soil erosion.
The nation's park is extended on the total section of 932 square kms. The park is not effective in avoiding encroachment although its year-lengthy efforts. Bandarjhula of Madi is easily the most encroached area where 550 hectares of land continues to be to date intruded.
The failure in getting rid of encroachment has posed a significant threat to the presence of the nation's park - that is enlisted because the conserved area.
The nation's park can also be sprawled over Chitwan, Makawanpur and Nawalparasi. Besides, Bandarjhula, the nation's park area towards Balmiki Ashram of Nawalparasi and Sunachuri of Makawanpur can also be under encroachment. The nation's park database has says some 60 hectares of their land continues to be intruded in Gajgraha and Triveni Susta of Nawalparasi.
CNP Chief Kunwar further shared the national park's 241 hectares of land continues to be encroached at Naya Belhani even though it is 27 hectares in Pithauli in Nawalparasi. Similarly, 15.4 hectares has been trespassed.
Among other locations overrun within the national park are Gitanagar, Pile Manahari and Kumaroj of Chitwan.
Based on the CNP sources, believed 2,500 homes are dwelling within the encroached land from the park.
