Construction of Melamchi tunnel distracted due to gasoline crisis

Kathmandu, Oct 2: The work going to construct the tunnels in the much-awaited Melamchi drinking water venture has been halted due to absence of fuel in america.

Construction operate was occurring in 7 different spots. According to the project development committee executive director Ghanashyam Bhattarai, the work stopped since Thursday. Problems faced in transportation of cement, fuel and explosives were also the reason behind the halt in the work.

The project requires 200,000 litres of diesel every month to move ahead with the work of tunnel construction that also includes blasting of rocks and stones using explosives. The explosives imported from India as well remain stranded in Raxual transit at the Nepal-India border since the past 15 days, Bhattarai said.
